Delicious burger, tator tots interesting twist, screwdriver-ok. Cheese fries awesome! Great spot for lunch.

It was ok. We had a chicken sandwich and champ burger... Not the best burger ever, but not bad... on par with bar food. I'd rate a 2 1/2 if that was an option. Wishing we went back to chow daddy's to try their burger instead.

Great burgers and fries - we purchased 5 different style burgers and all were great - cooked to perfection. Quick service to boot.

If you are looking for a great burger this is the place. The wife and I went with the burgers. The kids went with a salad and chicken fingers. All were very happy. The rosemary fries were interesting but still good. The place is meant more for adults than kids. There are limited booths and a few tables where the rest is either the bar or high top tables. facebook.com/CharbarCo

Ive come to charbar a few times since living in hh. Overall, the atmosphere is nice. Live music is a plus. The food is pretty good. Not great. Burgers lack full flavor and are always slightly overcooked. Truffle fries are good. I always order my burger rarer than i want so that it comes how i like it. Hope this helps!

Great burger place on the island. I had the champ and my partner build his own. I had the truffle fries and he had the sweet potato tots. All were good. Service was good. The only negative is the mixed drink wild tea mojito was weak. Atmosphere is casual and live band was a nice addition to the milieu Would recommend this place to locals and visitors

Let me start by saying the burgers were good. The wait for a table was average (45). But after we ordered, it was over an hour to get our food. We should have bailed but the atmosphere barely saved them. There is no reason to wait that long on a burger. With no offer to help on the bill.

Awful service. We came last Thursday for lunch and the place had maybe four tables occupied. Our waitress seemed to have minimal social skills as she never checked up on us and left the bill on our table without saying thank you or good bye. She took our drink orders in two separate rounds where I ordered my drink and she walked away saying she was going to grab menus then came back several minutes later to take the rest of our drink orders. We waited another 15 minutes for her to come take our order in which we had to flag her down and we were responded to with a condescending tone of "I see you sir" and she disappeared in the kitchen for another five minutes. I don't care how good your food is if you can't have friendly attentive servers then it takes away from your food. We will not come back here. Too many restaurants on HHI with great service and food to waste it coming back to this place.

For a burger bar this was a great experience. Food was cooked to perfection and had great flavors. Not a huge menu but plenty of options to choose from. Great setting both inside and outside with live music on the patio. The tablet at the table is always helpful occupying the kids and service was spot on. The buns for the burgers were amazing along with the sides. Portions could have been bigger but value to price was pretty good compared to other places near sea pines. Don't let the strip mall location throw you off, it is a nice casual dinner spot.

Our dinner at CharBar tonight was fantastic! The burgers were perfectly cooked and our server Cindy was just wonderful. The sweet potato tots were so tasty!! Good food, good service and good drinks. We will be back next year for sure!

  • Steve F.

Burger was decent but nothing exciting. For being a burger bar, I was expecting more than 4-5 specialty burgers. Kids enjoyed the table touchscreen games/trivia, it kept them very entertained throughout the meal.

Food was mediocre, service very slow. We ordered burgers, and were both disappointed. One was overcooked, neither was hot. The truffle fries were not hot either. This was our second visit, and we don't plan to return.

Burger with goat cheese on a pretzel roll with lots of their fantastic homemade pickle chips, delish! The games at the table made the wait fun.

  • Courtney M.

Absolutely one of the best hamburger experiences I've ever had! We came with a large hungry party, but they easily distracted us by placing game tablets on the table. The service was really good and their spiked milkshakes are divine. Great spot for great food!

Best burger I have ever had. Great sauces and sweet potato tots were amazing. You can even get an egg on your burger

If you love a good burger - I mean a *really* good burger - then this is the place for you! My family and I came to HH for vacation and the food was so good - we came back 2 nights in a row. Love them! YuM!

Great food and service. Melissa, our waitress, was very nice and professional. I ate the Southwestern Chicken Salad and my husband had The Champ Burger and we both loved our meals.

  • M R.

Burger was excellent, as well as the Rosemary fries. Service was generally very good, including how well they managed my 4 year old. The free use of handheld gaming platforms/digital menus was great in keeping him occupied. Only complaints were the lemonade (from a soda machine, and gross) and challenges with parking, which is a common problem in HHI anyway.

  • Steve C.

Had the cheese fries with bacon. They were great. I had the champ burger and my wife had the chicken BLT. We cut them in half and shared them. They were both excellent. My wife had the salad with the white balsamic vinaigrette which was very good.

  • Rebecca S.

Food was very good. We had our dogs with us and ate out on the patio. They quickly brought them a bowl of water and were exceptionally pleasant to our furry family members. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on pretzel bread and sweet potato tots and loved it. My oldest daughter had the chicken BLT and it was the favorite of the night. My youngest daughter had a build-your-own burger with bacon and the Rosemary truffle fries. The fries were very yummy and she loved her burger. We would definitely go back!

As we approached Char Bar the live music coming from the outdoor fireside patio, filled the plaza parking lot. The one man band was playing guitar and keyboards while mixing some beats over a melodic beat that continued to modulate tunes to the Live Oak's treetops and beyond. We initially took a bar side seat and ordered up one burger as our appetites were not in full gear just yet. A while ale whose name escapes me but was a great recommendation, a well made mojito were in tow as we sauntered off to sit near the music for a while. Once the food was served we scurried inside, the burger was cut in two, plated separately and extra french fries were on the plate as well. Small detail you say? Perhaps, but it was clear to me, even thought we were splitting a meal that our inexpensive meal was as important as their more expensive entrees. Check Facebook for their page and menu updates for the Chalkboard Special .

Terrible. The beef burgers gave us a seafood aftertaste. Uncomfortable seating. It says it was voted best burger on the island. We can't fathom why.

    (1)
  • Justin B.

Great burger! We started with the French fries covered in bacon, green onions, cheese and a spicy ranch, these fries were super greasy and exceptional. 3 of us split them and could barely make it through them. Went great with the beers too! I did a "build your own". Had ground beef, lettuce, tomato, sautéed onions, avocado, eggs, bacon, goat cheese on the pretzel bun. While avocado is good in theory, in never works out well, to slippery. The bun was one of the softest pretzel buns I have ever had. Bacon was amazing! Great flavor and cooked perfectly. Burger was a little over cooked. Egg was on top ad runny. Overall, very well put together. Small beer selection, but enough flavors for any type of beer drinker. Would visit again next time I'm here.

Hidden gem on HHI. The place was great for kids with large kids meals and a presto game system at the table. Champ burger was fantastic and the onion rings with sauce were amazing. No wait at 5pm. Definitely worth the trip.

  • Christine A.

Had the Champ Burger and the portobello burger. Both very good. Burgers are made medium with a pink center. But you can ask for it to be well done. We had ours medium and it was good. The portobello burger was really Great. Better than the beef burger. Service was good. Food was fast. Atmosphere is relaxed and unique. Drinks are STRONG! Definitely recommended.

Good burgers, great drinks, and a good environment with some live entertainment when we were there. Try some of the appetizers.

  • Vickie S.

I wasn't impressed. Decent, but unless there isn't another burger venue around, I wouldn't make a point to stop back. Most of us built our own burgers to customize a bit. We covered a lot of the options as a party of six. The gluten free bun is evidently pretty good. I appreciate that the lettuce that comes isn't iceberg. The avocado was bright green and soft and the slices weren't so thick as to be awkward on the roll. When I ordered goat cheese on the burger, enough goat cheese was smeared on top that I got some with each bite. I hear rumor the shakes are awesome. Sides: The side salad is large, which is nice considering the upcharge. The onion rings were crisp and not too thick and the dipping sauce was a nice bit of spice. I didn't eat the truffle-rosemary fries but the man who did was seeing his "mysteriously" disappear around him. Now for the not so good. Of course, there is the ubiquitous portabello cap sandwich. The focaccia felt old - staler and not springy. The veggie burger itself ends up together but smushy and barely warm inside. "Medium rare" with a patty made out of rice and beans just doesn't work the same way. I would prefer a patty that isn't as thick but doesn't become mush. Also, it wasn't flavorful on its own. There are endless ways to play with the contents of a veggie burger. I get it's not your famous burger, but it's on your menu and I paid just as much for it as for the beef (HMM). The pretzel roll wasn't a standout, which made me sad. Salt might have helped. Roasted vegetables as a topping translated to a sprinkling of roasted mini zucchini rings. Not so impressive. Also: it was cold for South Carolina, but not cold snap/frost/locals in parkas cold. I'm not sure why it wasn't temperate in the restaurant. It was an okay lunch. For all the care in the design of the restaurant, the limited scope of the menu, and the style of their staff (a red pixelated burger with "SWAG" under it or button up black shirts with CHARBAR) I was expecting a really good burger.

Voted best burger in Hilton Head and it's hard to disagree with that statement! First time here from NC and we loved it. A must try if you've never been!

  • Stormy R.

The best meal we ate while in Hilton Head! We stopped by around noon on a Saturday, it's off season so the place was pretty empty. The two year old was in need of a nap (i.e.- acting crazy) so we opted to sit outside. The outside seating was between the restaurant and the parking lot, with a fire pit, an outdoor bar, and some lights strung up. Seem like it would be a pretty decent spot at night., not as good as a back patio, but not bad. The Husband and I both ordered a build your own burger. It was way better than the build your own at other places because you got to choose your bread, meat, and toppings. I opted for a pretzel bun with a beef burger, and no toppings with a side of rosemary truffle fries. The husband got a burger on brioche with almost every topping available. When the burgers were delivered they looked a little small, but that was because of the mountain of fries beside the burgers. Everything was super tasty. Our waitress was a sweetheart and our order came quickly. At the tables inside they have "Prestos" (I think that's what they were called) which are little tablet type things with several apps- couples quizzes, drawing, etc. The waitress said it would eventually be able to be used for ordering food and drink refills I didn't get to check it out, the toddler was hogging it and playing on the drawing app- but that was fine as it gave her father and me a chance to eat in relative peace.

One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. They have a small selection of menu burgers but the build your own gives good variety. I had what I thought was an unusual combination: a burger with crispy potatoes and goat cheese. Best flavor pairing ever!! It was delicious. The burger was juicy and so flavorful. How can I ever be satisfied with another burger ever again? I paired my burger with sweet potato tots (yum) and wish I had room left for a shake. Service was ok. Decor was cute. Love Hilton Head island and loved this find.

Loved the burger. Love the live music every night. Great service. Don't miss out on this place if you like burgers!

Was there long enough to pee twice. Waited 50 minutes for food and it was lukewarm. Tasted good though.

  • Barbara W.

Good creative burgers, fresh tasty sides, beer, ice cream milkshakes with alcohol in them...a recipe for greatness. Their menu is fairly limited to burgers, but I'll tell you, they do them well. Their " bacon marmalade" (a bacon, tomato, onion mixture) adds a pleasantly sweet/smoky flavor to the burger. I usually pass on "special sauce" on burgers...preferring my meat and cheese left alone...but this was good. If you're on HHI and just want a casual bar-style meal, Charbar is worth a visit.

  • Joe C.

Excellent place for burgers! The burgers were cooked perfectly. The pretzel buns were delicious and you must try the charbar for dessert. Nice casual atmosphere

Excellent! The Champ is the best burger on the Island and one of the best anywhere. Staff was great. Atmosphere was cool too.

  • Kerri T.

Very good burgers and fries; the sauces that went with them were great. Our waitress was delightful. They also got points from me because they had gluten free buns ($2) which were good; wish they didn't cost so much extra. Will eat here again!

  • Christina G.

This place was perfect for an early dinner! Not crowded, atmosphere was nice and waiter was pleasant. The burgers were perfect!!! My husband had a "build your own" that looked disgusting but he loved it and I had the charburger which was amazing! Rosemary fries are the way to go for sides! Def. the place to go for casual, easy going, yummy food. The electronic board with games for the kids on the table, a plus.

They have two tables by the front door that sit two people. My friend and I were seated there while the front doors were wide open. We were freezing the whole time. These tables are in a horrible place. Not only were we freezing, we felt like we were on display for everyone that walked in the front door. A little awkward when you are trying to eat. Also, I ordered the "Champ". They asked if it could be cooked medium, which is fine with me. However, after taking a bite of the burger I realized that the center was RAW. Ugh! I sent it back and I could tell all they did was pop it into the microwave which rendered the whole thing hot as hell and way overcooked at that point. The fries were also limp and greasy. The service was good but, I was totally disappointed by the food!

    (2)
  • Greg S.

Burgers are great. Try the Fried Chicken BLT if you aren't in the mood for a burger. Service was excellent.

We went on a Thursday night after happy hour. The place is located in the Harris Tetter plaza and a little bit out of the way. We decided to sit outside at the bar. I think we waited almost 45 minutes for our burgers when the place was barely half full. I ordered a gluten free burger and side salad. Needless to say I was disappointed when the salad was the only thing good about the meal. The burger was okay, a little dry and not much flavor. Not sure what gluten free buns they are using but they should call Red Robin and find out how to do it right. My hubby enjoyed his sweet potato tater tots and thought his burger was just okay as well.

  • Jeff L.

Very good food and fun place. I had an IPA from a local brewer with my burger, and I loved it. The kids loved the electronic devices for trivia, coloring, etc. The burgers are good, but I'm holding back from a 5 star.

    (4)
  • Laura P.

After we got past the hostess with major attitude our server was very friendly. Food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the shrimp burger which was yummy. Nice atmosphere. Live music a bit loud but some may enjoy that type of thing. We will definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Don S.

Good hamburgers but not great. We each had one of their specialty burgers and they were good, maybe even better than good but not enough difference in 5-guys or similar to justify the price difference.

    (3)
  • Christine M.

My mom HAD to take me here for the "best burger on HHI." Okay. I'll take your word for it that it's the best on HHI, but it's certainly not the best as far as burgers go in general. Not really sure what the big deal is here. It's a burger joint. They have fun electronic interactive trivia games on the tables--that was the best novelty.

  • Geri C.

We stumbled upon the Charbar Co. in search of a good burger and that is exactly what we found. Great fries, great burgers, great staff. A must go-to on the island if you are looking for a burger. If you don't like red meat, a patron told me the chicken sandwich was good as well, add bacon, even better. I am surprised about the not-so-good reviews. Maybe some people are just a little too critical or they came in the summertime when the crowds are insane. I also had a side salad, very fresh ingredients and the dressing was great! Try it, you will like it!

  • JiaJia T.

Seriously 4.5 stars yelp?! We ordered the champ, buttermilk chicken appy, perfect portabella, and a chicken burger with a bunch of toppings. The champ burger was charred on the outside with a slightly bitter taste. The inside was bland and dry... The portablla was pathetically overcooked and what was left were strips of limp mushroom that looked like dirty wet socks... Ugh! The foccacia bread was a bit soggy and overwhelmed the measly portabella. The grilled chicken burger were charred around the edges and bland in flavor. The best part of the meal were the truffle fries and service was fairly friendly. Do yourselves a favor and head on to nearby five guys instead.

  • Bluedog T.

Went here for lunch. Was not impressed. Chicken wings: A total mess. Left in the fryer too long and server with the breading scorched and nearly burned. The loaded french fries came with a hair in them which the waitress corrected by leaving the fries on the table and saying "I'll tell the manager" no offer for a fresh batch but a promise to take them off the bill, which was not done when we received the bill. Burgers: The signature burger was more flavorful than the build your own burger, but overall nothing to write home about in the burger department. Entirely pedestrian. A good burger that any burger joint could produce. Greatly disappointed overall. Plus got locked in the bathroom stall because rather than replace the lock, they put up a small sign to say the door would not open if it was closed. Of course you notice that AFTER you have closed the door. Why not just run over to the hardware store and get a replacement?

    (2)
  • Mark D.

The food is amazing! I've been here multiple times and always get something different. I am never disappointed. The service and wait time for food is a bit ridiculous. I waited 60 minutes for a hamburger and my waiter never even noticed. The spiked milkshakes are very good but a bit overpriced.

  • Amy K.

A beef burger with provolone, bacon, caramelized onions...I could not stop myself from finishing the entire delicious thing. OH my goodness it was fantastic. The sweet potato tots were equally wonderful. I don't recommend the onion rings, though--mostly breading and hardly any onion. Atmosphere was nice (tablets at every table to keep kids occupied was a fun bonus)--my only complaint was that they need to do something about the door. We were seated right against the entryway and every time waiters went in and out to serve outdoor diners, the door crashed and banged in a super loud, annoying fashion. Would *definitely* go here again anytime we're in the mood for upscale burgers at a reasonable price.

We went here for lunch yesterday & a bunch of people had the same idea so we had to wait 10-15min for a table. No big deal. The restaurant is nicely decorated & pleasant. There is also outside seating but it was too hot for that. Once we were seated they seemed to be a little short staffed so we had to wait 5-10mins to place a drink order. Both the bartender, who ended up getting our drinks, & our waitress both apologized for the delay. The waitress was very friendly & the rest of the service was very good. I ordered the Champ burger which was very good with great smokey flavor. The onion rings were also very good. My wife did the build your own burger & she loved it. My oldest son got the Chicken BLT with sweet potato tater tots. He loved them both as well. My youngest son got the kids burger with fries said it was one of his favorites. The other 2 kids had the kids grilled cheese & fries which they both liked. The only criticisms would be the slow service, a limited craft beer selection & wishing they offered a hot dog on the kids menu, I have one very picky child that does not eat burgers. Not big deals at all. We will definitely be back again next year!

Charbar does it right! They have a limited but delicious menu which specializes in any kind of burger you can think of from turkey, chicken, bean, shrimp, beef...you name it, they have it! We had a build your own burger with American cheese which was simple but delicious. The burger itself was a little smaller than most places but still good! Also had the crispy chicken sandwich which was not your typical chicken sandwich. It was juicy, covered in lettuce, tomato, candied bacon and mayo along with cheddar cheese (usually pepper jack but I changed it up). Most delicious lunch we had all week!!

    (5)
  • Douglas H.

Made from ground filet these burgers are amazing! Make your own combinations or select signature burger. They have several bun selections along with a gluten free bun (2.00 up-charge). The rosemary fries are great but the sweet potato tots were just so-so. The salads are huge and the lime cilantro ranch is pretty good but not enough cilantro to really change up the flavor from the standard ranch. Server was knowledgable but a little snippish felt very rushed but overall great food and fun outside music to boot.

I went to Charbar after reading about the award winning burgers and the great reviews. We were not disappointed in the least! Fantastic food at great prices. Simple menu with a great concep. Went with the build a burger option and got a burger with provolone, tomato, sauteed onions & a suuny side up egg on a pretzel roll. Very messy, but delicious. They call the temp medium yet say it's pink, which it was. Really medium rare. Got the hand cut chips, which were fried potato chips not fries; should have gotten the rosemary truffle fries, which taste great. While it takes a while for this style of burger to be prepped, the table games passs the time quickly. They have exceptional waitstaff; very friendly & efficient. There were some service hiccups but all were easily fixed. Dessert was good - ice cream sliders, but it came well before the coffee with no htensils or plates. The ice cream - vanilla on one, chocolate on one & mint on the third melted way too fast. Good chocolate chip cookies for the sandwich. Charbar is their take on a Snickers bar; sinful & chocolatey goodness. Highly recommended. Great seats indoors or out. Live music was great & not overwhelming. Plenty of seats to wait once it fills up (7pm on a Friday night) Both an outdoor & indoor bar. Good beer & wine selections. plus virgin or alcoholic shakes. Casual atmosphere and great prices. You'd pay more at a chain for boring burgers. Run don't walk to this restaurant!!

  • K H.

Sat outside on the patio. Dog friendly. The cheese fries app was so, so yummy!!! Got a beef burger (came cooked perfectly medium) on sourdough with bacon (thick and crispy) and pepper jack with onion rings. I preferred the spicy ranch to the dipping sauce they offered with rings. Added it to my burger too :) But seriously, get the cheese fries!

We visited Charbar for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were seated right away and were welcomed by a tablet at table to play games with. I ordered the shrimp burger with onion rings. Both were delicious. Atmosphere was very nice inside. Outside patio looked very nice but it was raining so no one was out there. I would definitely return.

  • Brock S.

AMAZING!!!! I got the Charbar Burger with a side salad and it was awesome! Burger was cooked perfectly! Homemade bun was great too! My girlfriend got the Chicken BLT and it was the best chicken either of us have tasted! The atmosphere is great too! Live bands perform at night. Outside area is probably the nicest I have seen! In my opinion it was underpriced- great food, and great atmosphere!!! My girlfriend and i enjoyed the games they have on every table while we waited on our food. We will definitely be returning!!!

Exactly what Hilton Head needs. This is a high quality hamburger restaurant and bar is comparable to celebrity Chef Richard Blaze- Flip Burger Boutique in Atlanta. Like Flip Burger- Charbar has many different style burgers, buns and homemade sauces but also specialize in alcoholic milk shakes. I have been here about 4 times in a month and this will continue to be one of my regular spots. Hands down the best new restaurant in Hilton Head and a welcome change from many seafood and tourism catered establishments Also has a large indoor and outdoor bar. They have live music in the warmer months

Eating at Charbar now. It was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Our server Matt was awesome and had a great personality. I did the build your own burger and I ate the whole thing! Clearly I will not be yelping about anything else today because this will be my only meal. I also had the rosemary truffle fries and I had them add Parmesan and they were phenomenal. I also the creamy vanilla bean shake "with boos." Omg! I was sinfully good. Overall great burger and great experience.

Delicious "craft" burgers at the price of a burger from a chain restaurant. They have truffle fries, but we preferred the regular ones. Our waitress was not very attentive but another waitress made up for it and refilled our drinks and brought our check. We went for lunch- not very crowded. We are happy we found this place! Check it out when you are in the mood for a quality local spot, rather than the typical tourist restaurant.

Outstanding burgers, onion rings, event chicken fingers for the kids. Drinks are well made and substantial. I had the Champ burger and was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly on a great bun. Service was attentive and thoughtful. Definitely a repeat for us on our next visit!

This is a Great new place on the Island! The burgers are outstanding, I highly recommend anything on a Pretzel roll. The build your own burger offers many options. Some good local beers on tap, but not a huge beer list. I have been there numerous times and have always found the service to be good. The place has a cool vibe, a great outdoor bar & eating area. Good live entertainment. If you live on the Island I'm sure you already know this place, if your just visiting stop in you won't be disappointed.

Very good burgers and the pretzel bun is a must!!! Couldn't stop eating the fries. The kids LOVE the interactive game pad at the table.

Had lunch here with my wife while on honeymoon. We had spiked milkshakes which were tasty. I went with the build your own burger and had shrimp burger with pimento cheese, jalapeno, and avocado on housemade sourdough. YUM! They have great shoestring fries with housemade ketchup. So good.

  • Nic M.

Cool looking place. Live music. Very reasonably priced, very good food...what more can you ask for? I had the grilled chicken 'build your own' burger. It was excellent! Will certainly be back.

  • Taylor J.

Burgers were great. I had cheddar cheese, egg, bacon, on sour dough and it would melt in your mouth. Great Job by the kitchen, because the front of house service was about the same as a burger joint w/ a drive thru window. No silverware, no napkins, no refills. She just reminded us when we came in the they closed in 30 minutes.

Great food, fairly cheap, but nothing too special. Wife and I both ate for under $30, which is good for around here. Will definitely try again if we're lucky enough to come here again!

Love that they have a veggie burger - vegetarian options are hard to find on the island. Wonderful burgers, chicken, etc. good beer selection. Have tablets on the tables with fun trivia and games. Friendly staff.

Tried this restaurant while visiting Hilton Head. I'm a vegetarian and found plenty on the menu including the build your own burger veggie patty and the portobello burger. Decent selection of craft beers and the service was excellent; very thoughtful and friendly but not intrusive. Would definitely go back.

One of the best burgers I have ever had. Very unique and great experience.

I paid 6 dollars for a special of seven soy garlic chicken wings dipped in a wasabi ranch, which were delicious! Everyone at my table was very impressed by the wait staff and the food/drinks. I plan on going again in the coming years when visiting HHI.

First time here and was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews. I am so glad we dined here. We both ordered the Make Your Own and chose the shrimp burgers (they blackened for us at no charge) with goat cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion on a gluten free bun. Let me just say it was amazing and definitely did not fall apart. I had a side salad (totally worth the $1 up charge in my opinion) which was great with their house lime cilantro ranch dressing. My husband had onion rings. He also ordered a rootbeer float which he enjoyed. I feel like I can be a picky person when it comes to food. I do not like anything greasy or full of condiments (mayo). I also like quality ingredients and food. The shrimp burger was light but flavorful with the blackened seasonings. My husband's onion rings did not look greasy (not my thing but at least they did not appear to be drenched in oil). I was happy with my salad and the portion size of the meal and quality for the price. Our waitress was outstanding but then I noticed all of the waitresses seemed to be doing a great job. There did start to be a wait around 6:30 - we had arrived earlier on a Sunday evening. Overall we were very happy with our meal and will definitely return.

I'd give it a 2.5 if I could but rounding up to a 3 due to a great waitress. The positive: Great live entertainment and nice outdoor bar area for waiting or just enjoying the music. The negative: Not sure if the AC was down, but the place was way too hot to relax and enjoy dinner. The cheese fries shown in a lot of the pics were disappointing- greasy and soggy. The burger was tasteful but half of it fell out of my bun after one bite. Don't trust the "wait time" estimate. We were told 75 minutes and it only took 10 - not complaining about that but it was probably due to people departing quicker than normal because of the heat. I'd return but only if the Cincy guy was playing music.

The reviews here are mixed, and I was probably a little too swayed by the four star overall rating, so although I would probably give a 2.5 and may even be inclined to round up to 3, by the law of averages I need to bring this overall star rating down a notch. We decided on Charbar for a late lunch are being at the beach all morning and afternoon. We probably got there around 2:30 or 3. It was very empty inside and almost looked closed, but it was past lunch on a weekday. The hostess took a minute to greet us and it took a little longer than I thought it should have to get menus. The menu looks great, which is part of the reason I suggested we eat here in the first place. They are mostly burgers but they cover almost every burger category with traditional beef, as well as chicken, shrimp, and veggie options. They have a few signature burgers and you also have the option to make your own from many different permutations of ingredients. We all placed drink orders. The have a full bar and a list of specialty drinks but the waitress seemed very unsure of what they actually had behind the bar in terms of brands and flavors, or even what beers they had on tap. I get that maybe she's a lunch waitress and doesn't serve many drinks, but at the same time, it's a vacation destination, people must be drinking on lunch. The drinks took a very long time to come out from the bar, especially considering we were one of two tables at the time. I ordered the wild tea mojito which was made with sweet tea vodka and rosemary. It tasted good and it was a fun twist on a mojito, but it was a pretty small glass, and the presentation was very meh for the price. We also started out with an order of cheese fries, which I can say were pretty good, and the pimento cheese definitely adds a nice touch. For the meal we all ordered burgers, but had a good spread of the menu. I ordered the shrimp burger. It was kind of a mess. Everything I love was there: shrimp, pimento cheese, arugula, tomato, pickled onions, aioli, but it really just didn't have much flavor. The main issue was that it was served on a foccacia bread that fell apart as soon as as I picked up the burger, so eating it with a fork it was really just a pile of shrimp and foccacia mush. On top of that I found shrimp shell in my burger. We also had a veggie burger (which looked equally a mess) and a beef burger at the table, and those who ordered them seemed a little more pleased than I was. Each burger comes with a side and they have a decent selection. I went with the rosemary garlic fries while other in the group got onion rings and sweet potato tots. The sides were decent, and the tots and onions rings were served with a spicy mayo like dipping sauce. My only issue here was the breading on the onion rings was kind of not attached to them. Overall the meal dragged. Although our waitress was friendly, the service was just weird and not all that attentive considering the restaurant was empty. Maybe the empty restaurant atmosphere hurt my overall opinion as well. The food has so much potential but for me my dish just completely missed the mark. Maybe it's an off day, but looking at other reviews they are having a few too many off days here. They do have a nice patio area with lights that would be cute to sit at in the evening, but I am sure there are better burgers in the area.

Luckily in St. Louis we have Award Winning hamburgers. I know a good burger. This was not. The burgers were not cooked to requested temperatures. Two out of four burgers where cut in half and crumbling on the buns when delivered. Provolone cheese was not melted on one burger. Onion rings are a mess. They crumbled before one could even take a bite out of them. Skip the shake, if a shake can be warm, that is what we were served. The service was far lower than 1.0. Everyone working "appears" busy. However, I am guessing they have never heard of working smarter and not harder. The manager never stopped moving, but he was not doing anything useful. The hostess turned several walk up groups away - maybe the manager should have taken control. There were empty tables inside and outdside the whole time I was at Charbar. Why on Earth would you send paying customers off with no hope of them returning? (No- they did not leave names or phone number- they left!) The night I visited the managers parents were eating next to us. We overheard the manager tell them the kitchen was running thirty minutes behind on orders. Okay- YOU have a situation with YOUR kitchen staff. Go around and give your tables a heads up, take it like a man and tell the paying customers something is going on. You may even have more adult drink orders if you were HONEST. Instead the mood of the majority of tables turned ugly. It is not a good look when you have kids asleep at high boy tables because the wait for food is THAT slow! Maybe some damage control and bring each table a free appetizer or basket of fries... anything... something... Not the best burger...not worth a wait.

Nice ambiance. Cool old lp's on the wall. I had the "dirty south" burger and it was amazing. Great range of flavors along with a perfectly cooked medium-rare burger. The truffle fries were good but a little dry. House made ketchup is fantastic. My wife had the southwest chicken salad, it was very good! The kids were happy with their meals and loved the electronic menus on iPad-like devices. Overall, very nice place. Good service and good food. We'll visit again.

Very nice burgers and good service. I had the burger with pimiento cheese and pork belly. I would totally recommend the fries tossed in rosemary and olive oil. Its a good place to eat and drink in Hilton Head if you are trying to avoid the crazy prices right by the water and the long waits.

I'm giving 4 stars because I haven't had much luck with decent food here on the HH Island. It was good, but freakin salty, the rosemary fries, Good but salty as heeeell!!! Make reservations, because even though it doesn't look busy , you wait. and wait and wait. Then you order, and wait and wait...etc... ok so I gotta go home and have a stroke from all the salt... but all in all it was good and I would come again.

Overall the food was very good. Homemade chips and the Champ burger (excellent burger!) did not disappoint. The speed and quality of service was also very good and friendly. There are good kid selections and a Presto game system for entertainment throughout the meal. They are located in a shopping center so parking was easy.
